Half Way There

Happy June! Somehow we're already 6 months into the year and I've accomplished... some things. Not a lot! But things none the less. I've just got back from the lushest festival, which, having FND wasn't the easiest of weekends but it was so much fun, and although I am now paying for over-exertion and indulging in live music it was definitely worth it. Nothing a few pills can't solve.

This week is a very exciting week because I am being published! Not once, but twice. (I know, check me out.) The first of these is already up and online and I couldn't be more excited to share it with you! I have been published with the very kind, very exciting The Bluebird Word. Which is an online literary journal that publishes poetry, prose and short stories from poets and authors all over the world and now: me!

You can check out the entire June edition by clicking here or you can be sneaky and head straight to my latest (PUBLISHED) poem, Sunflowers by clicking the beautiful picture below which was designed by deMicheo.

It is so, so nuts to me that after writing for such a long time, people are being kind enough to publish my work and let it be out on the entire internet for audiences bigger than I could ever reach alone and I will be eternally grateful for everyone taking a chance on me and showcasing my poetry!

I wrote Sunflowers, around 2020. I was sat in my bedroom at my Uncle's house, staring at the dying vase of sunflowers on the windowsill. I had music playing, an incense burning and the sun was glaring in through the windows. I had recently lost my Dad and the whole world seemed to continue spinning though something so monumental to me had gone, and it led me to think about how even when flowers die, they are still flowers. They're still considered beautiful and they do not lose their title just because they aren't in bloom. That led to one of my personal favourites and Sunflowers was written. It is the realisation that just because he was gone, he was still my Dad. Just because we lose people doesn't mean everything they were changed, just their current state. It's their life that they did live that makes them who they are and their passing doesn't mean that all of that is erased, it just makes the love we have for them look a little bit differently.

Anyway, got a bit deep there for a second didn't I. I'd apologise but why change the habit of a lifetime?

As always, if you've got this far, I appreciate you, love you, hug you, wanna smooch you, all that lovely stuff and again if you want to check out Sunflowers, just tippity tap on the button below and the mysterious internet magic will take you straight to it.

Peace and love, as per,

Tasha AC.
